EPDM ROOF SYSTEMS
Durability, design versatility and
installation ease are among the many reasons EPDM is the most
popular material for both new and re-roof low-slope roofing
applications.
EPDM membranes may be installed in a full
range of system applications. The earliest predominant design was
the ballasted roof, in which the membrane is loosely laid over the
substrate (usually loose laid insulation). The membrane is then
covered with a layer of ballast, stone or pavers, which serve as the
anchoring method that keeps the membrane in place when exposed to
wind uplift forces. EPDM membranes may also be fully adhered to
rigid insulation board or an appropriate structural deck. This
system eliminates the weight of the ballast and leaves the membrane
exposed, thus offering many opportunities for aesthetic appeal
through the use of specially colored membranes and coatings or just
the smooth, clean appearance of an adhered black membrane.
Mechanically attached EPDM roof systems are also available.

Fully Adhered Systems
require mechanical or adhesive attachment of the insulation and
bonding of the membrane to the insulation. |

TPO ROOF SYSTEMS
Thermoplastic single-ply roofing membranes are
among the fastest growing commercial roofing products and have
gained broad industry acceptance for their many performance and
installation advantages. TPO is a flexible, hot-air welded
thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO) roofing membrane available in both 8’
and 10’ widths. Featuring a white, tan or gray reflective surface,
TPO can help reduce a building’s cooling requirements. |

|

Mechanically Attached
Systems require mechanical attachment of the insulation to the
deck and mechanical attachment of the membrane
within the seam area. |

PVC SYSTEMS
Outstanding weathering characteristics, energy
efficiency, installation ease and durability are among the many
advantages of polyvinyl chloride (PVC) roofing systems. This hot-air
welded, polyester scrim-reinforced membrane has a white, reflective
surface, and is available in 45-mil and 60-mil thicknesses. |
|
|
|
Ballasted designs
combine a loose-laid insulation and membrane and the use of
ballast
or pavers to secure the system. |

ASPHALT SYSTEMS
Asphalt systems include the different types of
roofs such as pre-manufactured Modified Bitumen membrane system, a
standard built-up system, or a hybrid BUR/Modified Bitumen system.
A SBS Modified Bitumen Roofing System combines
exceptional elongation and fatigue resistance properties with the
strength of a glass-reinforced polyester mat. Available in white,
black and other granule surface colors, SBS membranes may be
installed by heat welding, hot asphalt, cold-applied adhesive,
mechanical attachment or as part of a self-adhered system. |

STANDING SEAM METAL ROOF SYSTEMS
A Standing Seam Metal Roofing System
attributes are impressive. Durable and long lasting, a metal roof
requires little maintenance, can be retrofitted over many existing
roofing materials, is available in a wide range of colors and
styles, and is fire resistant. This type of system is very popular
on shopping centers and other commercial properties.
